Stoicism And Solitude

The life of an elk bull is not an easy one. Even when you have no natural predators, living in the high alpine tundra is no picnic. You're constantly eating, battling other bulls, trying to impress the elk cows with your bugling, and in general living a life of solitude. The winds are gusty, the growing seasons are short, and the winters are freezing. But the elk persist and even thrive. This guy was traveling solo along a high ridge near the top of Rocky Mountain National Park's Trail Ridge Road.
