Mind The Gap

Astrophotography over the Grand Canyon with the Milky Way and Saturn. The Grand Canyon is deceptively gigantic. Without any real frame of reference it's hard to understand that it's more than a mile deep. It's especially eerie walking out onto one of the spines that go from the parking area of the North Rim out into the canyon. There are no handrails on the path, and it's a terrifying slope just a few feet off the edge of the paved walkway. It turns out, however, that it's a lot scarier walking on it when you can see the slope during the day than it is walking back from a Milky Way photoshoot in the dark.
